night safari-ing

this is yet another late update but i so gotta note this down. well last saturday night, sifu decided that the whole debate gang should go night safari-ing(is that even a word??). anyway, it was a beautiful chilly night, clear sky, bright moon, perfect day for the Georgians to bond with their twin in the zoo. our sifu got married recently and we hadn't met his wife. so the night safari thingy was a good chance for us to meet her and get to know her. she turns out to be a very sweet and gentle person, perfect for sifu. anyway, May Khei decided to join us too. so it was nice to see her again after so long. we were all acting so crazily the entire time we were in the zoo. one of the funny scenes were when the boys were admiring the wild boars' cool HAIRSTYLE and also watching a camel pee. LOL. quite a night huh?? well, that's just to name a few. we had lots of laughs and a very good time watching animals. hmm. i gotta say, there's a big difference when you watch 'em in the day and when you watch 'em at night. somehow i prefer night. we entered the zoo around 8.30 and came out close to 11. sifu decided to head home first. he seemed real tired and its probably coz of a long day at the hospital. anyway, the rest of us continued goofing and crapping while waiting for some of us to go back. most of us decided to go for supper at Taman Tasik Food Court. didn like the fact that we ate out of polystyrene but in such a crowded public place, you cant do much. anyway, after supper we got bored real fast. so we designed a masterpiece out of whatever we ate and drank. LOL. as you can see in the pic, it was all very entertaining but the dudes working there(meaning those who actually clean up) were giving us funny stares. haha. dad picked me up and i reached home bout 12.30am. had a blast alright. the next event is probably gonna be our annual debate dinner. looking forward to that. till then its back to school, tuition and books. =)

turning 17 at the International Islamic University, KL

hmm. i guess its rather late to update on what happened about a week ago but i gotta note this down coz its one of the most memorable moments i've ever had. well i was there coz of a debate tournament and though we went there as two different schools, St.George and Convent Taiping, like our 'sifu' said, we were still one team. i woke up in my cubical in the dorm on sunday morning and everyone wished me happy birthday. =D when i came back to the room after brushing my teeth and washing my face in the toilet down the corridor, the lights were off in the room and they were like wishing and singing and Ju Yen handed me a card and a plastic bag. soo terharu!(p.s. thanks to Tan Ju Yen, Ching Sue Jyie, Ooi Wei Lin, Lee Siu Chen, Tnew Chen Zhun, Ooi Ken Lin and Stephenas Teh for the card, 2 pairs of earrings, hand-phone key-chain and bangle =D)after that, we went to the Kulliyah of Architecture and Engineering Design to have our breakfast. i was talking to my mom on the phone and everyone was like acting very suspicious. LOL. the minute i ended the call, everyone sang the birthday song for me, i mean everyone, as in all the other participants in the hall too. so so so terharu. though it wasnt a material gift, i appreciated it so so so much. gave a hug to all of them for being so sweet. the day continued as usual, we had 3 debate rounds throughout the day. there were so many other 'scandals' that took place throughout the 6-day trip. haha. very funny ones. but all in all, i couldn have asked for a more pleasant birthday away from home. for a moment, it felt like i WAS home.(Awww... =D)i did my english oral presentation in class yesterday and obviously i spoke about the tournament. at the end, few of my classmates were saying how lucky i was to have had such a special birthday. and guess what, they're damn right.

penang-10th april 2010

aahhh..it was a good trip alright. 'meaningful' would be a more suitable word. we visited the Little Sisters of the Poor center. sighs. as we were like interacting with the old people there and stuff, everyone was so emo and some had a really tough time holding back their tears. i would be one of them. most of the old folks were chinese and a few indians. only a few could walk and talk. i approached a really old chinese aunty on a wheelchair and i tried speaking to her in english. she probably didn understand a word i was saying but she put her hands together and said 'ni hao' twice. sighs. kept reminding myself and the others that it isn't always about us. sometimes when we do something 100% for someone else. that's when we feel the real meaning of something in your life. true?? anyway, im proud to say all the girls applied what i said and gave their best for the old folks. we sang I've Been Working on the Railroad, My Grandfather's Clock and Pharoah!Pharoah!. then about 12 of us danced Jai Ho!(thanks to Darshini Preet for helping with the practices) but then again, the sisters have done a really good job at the center i must say. the old folks have all the facilities and health care they need. the place is very comfy and peaceful. on our way to the Marine Naval Base in Penang, Koomal reminded all of us in the bus about the lesson we can learn. never abandon your parents when their old no matter what situation you're in. yea!! the police officers at the Naval Base were so friendly! of course they were like serious malay dudes in uniforms and strict haircuts. but they really entertained us well. and the fried mee hoon they served was yummy too. we checked out all the 'boats' that they used and stuff. it was super cool. later on, we headed to Queensbay Mall. shopping!! i didnt shop that much this time though. what do you expect we had only 2 hours. and attention to all, i did NOT buy shoes. LOL.on the whole, penang's a beautiful place, starting to like it a lot.hmm. the bad part is i got a sore throat out of no where and now im popping Fisherman's Friend or Strepsils into my mouth every hour. my debate tournament starts this friday AND i have a launching speech this wednesday! no no no. i cannot afford to lose my voice. but thank God, im doing much better. should be fine by tomorrow..yay! that's about it..

'slumber party' at Hospital Taiping

about this time last night i was having debate trainings in the seminar room in wad c4 under our sifu's guidance, Dr.Khor Swee Kheng(Sweeks).lol. myself, Ju Yen, Ching, Wei Lin, Siu Chen, Ken Lin, Louis Chong Vuitton(=P), Viknesh, Darmesh, Boo, Chen Zhun & Stephen were there. Siu Chen and Stephen left around 11pm cos they had their JPA interview this morning(i wonder how it went). the rest of us were survivors. haha so to speak. but seriously though, imagine drastic debate training from 5.30pm-3.30am in a hospital!! i know, cool right? it was awesome. we had pizza delivered for dinner(to the door, in the hospital) and we went out for mcD around 12.30am for supper. and of course trainings in between. i gotta say, i had a blast. how many of us get to have that experience right? it was fun to train with the Georgians and Swee Kheng, had lots of good laughs. for me, the most important thing was i had my mind straight and i had fun.i guess i speak for everyone when i say through the trainings with Swee Kheng we really boosted our confidence and in some ways, friendship too. hmm. Ju Yen and I were eyeing Swee Kheng's tshirt which had a cartoon image of a fried egg with the soul of a chick coming out of it. hehe. nice. the girls got to nap in the M.O. on call room which can be considered as a luxury coz the boys had to make do with the chairs in the seminar room. lol. we napped from 3.45am to 5.45am then we woke up to go home and shower before going to school. had ample to stuff to do in school. secretary stuff, president meetings, nature campaign planning meeting, day trip to Penang meeting. sighs. name it la. and of course debate training at the library after recess. though we kinda took a break today. by break i mean finishing up all the homework we needed to hand in. surprisingly i didnt really feel that tired or sleepy. but there were the mood swings. i got ticked off easily a couple of times today but tried my best to not show it. the day trip to penang is 2moro. we'll be leaving around 6.30am. busy weekend ahead but im just gonna remind myself to smile and have fun.(so cheezy) speaking of the word 'cheezy', im using it a lot. my friends would have realised that by now. oh well. that's just a random fact.

everyone

i expected april to be the busiest month but i didnt expect it to be that much harder to handle. its not that bad really but when you have more than one major event to handle and prepare for, you cant help being unstable. i guess it sucks all the more when everyone is like so diverted intstead of being in it together. not that its anybody's fault either. im guilty too. everyone's worried. everyone. its hard when everyone starts being oblivious about one another and end up being so self-absorbed. unintentionally of course. again im guilty too. but nobody's offering to help either. not so much in doing work but more like reminding one another about what really matters. so in conclusion, its either you're so worried that you cant think straight, or you're not worried and you're trying to avoid anything that might worry you. cant blame anyone for that can we? it would be so so helpful if people can just show me that they've got my back and that whatever team i'm working with, it's about working as a team and not about impressing anyone or trying to satisfy individual comforts. believe me when i say im trying to do that myself and its not easy. but i would appreaciate the effort so much. at the end of the day, i still love what i do. either way, the Mighty One has my back and im gonna count on that. a lot.
